Strong advice. And as a speechwriter, it's imperative because someone is going to read it out loud to an audience and perhaps the remarks and delivery will be on video on the internet forever. (And I cringe when a speaker stumbles over a clunky sentence of mine.) Another trick: Look at what you wrote on a different screen, for example, send it to your phone and read it there. It's amazing how the brain -- at least mine -- sees the text differently and picks up shoddiness or wordiness.
