Ten reasons Trump lovers will never leave him
Psychotherapy has the answers
Jeffrey Denny
Typical of the liberal MSM:
A college-indoctrinated Washington elite on CNN said that even amid growing American support for President Trump’s impeachment inquiry, his minority of loyal supporters are sticking with him, no matter what the high crimes and misdemeanors.
The CNN commentator was, as always, condescending and wrong about Trump’s base.
“It is almost like a hermetically sealed world,” said Peter Wehner, a classic Washington swamp creature Trump pledged to get rid of. “Facts are like BBs, they’re just bouncing off of a brick wall. They just don’t penetrate.”
“People decided early on for a variety of reasons to accommodate themselves to Donald Trump, some of them thinking that things would get better, that he would grow in office, that he would be surrounded by good people,” Wehner said.
“Now it’s not just a defense of Trump. It’s a defense of their defense of Trump. To indict him is to indict themselves, and to indict their own judgment, and that’s hard for any human being.”
Wehner concluded, “They will defend him regardless of what happens, come hell or high water.”
Wehner is the usual stupid anti-American Democrat progressive liberal socialist.
He served in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations and as a senior aide to George W. Bush. So of course he used non-Christian (*wink*) therapeutic verbiage such as “psychology of accommodation.”
Wehner may be right. But I’m still mystified why intelligent Trump lovers love him even if it kills America.
Since my non-Christian (*wink*) therapist urged me to express myself before saying “I can’t help you anymore, godspeed,” I reached for the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Now I see and send thoughts and prayers for what Trump lovers are struggling with:
1. FYKD
“F*ck You Karen Disorder” is also known as “ornery streak.”
This is core to American heritage and culture. We were founded on rebellion. The South rebelled because they couldn’t own human beings.
Today we observe FYKD when Trump lovers want to protect Confederate heritage but say slavery was a long time ago, let it go.
2. NYTOWSS
“No You’re The One Who’s Stupid Syndrome” is an understandable reaction when some Democrats, liberals, progressives, coastal, urban, college-educated elites imply they think Trump lovers are ignorant, backwards, resentful, racist deplorables clinging to guns and religion. Especially when Trump lovers say assault weapons aren’t, or ask, “Where’s my white privilege, Karen?”
Naturally, Trump lovers turn the tables and “own the libs” with snarky memes and truthful right-wing “sources” that dumbfound fellow Americans who question Trump’s amazing brilliant leadership that’s making America greater.
3. RWMA
“Right Wing Media Addiction” makes people listen only to Fox and ilk that support and defend their president, who demands RWM fealty. RWMA makes people love how the RMA foments hate for the professional trained media, versus its conservative polemicists who smear real journalists for business competitive reasons (i.e., audience and ad money).
The RWM sadly feeds the Trump lover addiction, like a rogue doctor prescribing unlimited opioids, by giving them what they want to hear and inspiring hatred for fellow Americans who might disagree.
4. CB and MR
Most humans — right or left — suffer from Cognitive Bias and Motivated Reasoning.
Symptoms include seeing, selecting and preferring only facts, arguments and anecdotes that reinforce our beliefs. As Trump lovers, for example, follow on the RWM.
The only treatment: Ask ourselves whether you might have CB or MR. Side effects may include thinking for yourself; reading and listening to different views instead of automatically rejecting them per the source; or not having your worldview distorted by your favorite media.
You may also find yourself asking questions and listening and learning what you don’t know, instead of declaring what you’re sure you do.
5. OLD
No, not being old, though the majority of Trump lovers have Medicare and Social Security and complain about socialism.
OLD stands for “Obsessive Love Disorder,” which in this case means love me love my president.
Trump is a folk hero to MAGAs. It’s personal. Any attack on him is an attack on them.
6. TDDS
This is “Trump Derangement-Derangement Syndrome.” Trump lovers are driven crazy by anyone who is driven crazy by Trump, such as millions of decent, upstanding, patriotic fellow Americans.
TDDS unfortunately represents hatred for the majority of Americans. Democrats outnumber Republicans 31 percent to 29 percent, per Gallup. The 38 percent identifying as independents are tilting against Trump. His leftist Fox poll disapproval rating is at 55 percent.
But deranged Trumpsters sneer at polls and call Americans who are sick of the nasty, corrupt, chaotic Trump Show stupid, hateful, unpatriotic DemocRAT liberal socialists.
7. LDS
“Liberal Derangement Syndrome” is often a symptom of RWMA (see above).
If a liberal says something in a forest and no one is there to hear him or her (or they or them or zie), is it still wrong, stupid and socialist? Of course!
One Trump-loving Facebook friend recently declared that liberals support pedophilia, citing sources on the internet. That’s the definition of hitting bottom with smearing liberals.
8. CHC
“College Hatred Condition” says, in an Orwellian way, that education makes you stupid.
What I got most from college — post-military service on the GI Bill — was the challenge to keep an open mind, and question my beliefs, trusted sources and the powers that be. Most of all, fight Cognitive Bias and Motivated Reasoning.
But as a college graduate, what do I know? Trump lovers say college indoctrinates mush-brained people to become liberals, elitist, close-minded, lack common sense and hate America and white people, especially men.
This view may not apply to doctors, engineers, chemists, businessmen and other real jobs that require professional training. But definitely to history, English, philosophy, political science, journalism, culture and gender studies and other liberal arts majors. Also scientists who say humans cause climate change and the planet’s in danger.
9. BTAD
For Trump fans, “Bowing to Authority Disorder” means exaggerating presidential power — you have to respect him, he’s the president! — even if you hated presidential power under Obama.
The difference is definitely not because some Trump white folks still can’t respect a black man being president. I’m just sayin’, Karen.
America was formed because our original and real patriots were immune to BTAD.
Trump lovers are eminent scholars in the Founders’ intent regarding the First and Second Amendments (freedom to wound people with words or guns). But they don’t care about the Constitution’s separation of powers, rule of law, and — reflecting our Founders’ fear of presidents becoming too king-like — curbs on presidential rights and authority. Or that Article I established Congress as the “first branch” of government with powers over the president.
Trump lovers hate Congress, which comes down to hating Congress members elected by their fellow 300 million Americans.
10. CBE
The “Charlie Brown Effect” derives from the classic song by The Coasters wherein the eponymous Brown shoots spit balls and acts up, and when held accountable plays victim and wonders, “Why’s everybody always pickin’ on me?”
Trump lovers say, “The President of the United States acts like a dick, Karen, why can’t we?”
